I've been really loving experimenting with different self-portrait concepts. With this one, I saw a photos of some CDs just on the ground and the next morning I woke up with a fully formed idea in my head. I am constantly putting things in front of my camera lens to get unique looks, so I decided I really wanted to try it with some old CDs. I also decided to really emphasize the rainbow streaks that you see in CDs when the reflect the light, so I recruited my sister to do my makeup (which I never wear, so that was a fun change) and we cut up some CDs to glue onto my face. I set up my backdrop and the garage and got to shooting. This shoot ended up being a lot harder than I expected. Initially, I'd planned to do it fully on my own, but I was having a hard time getting the angles I wanted while also holding the remote timer. I ended up recruiting my sister to stand behind the camera and press the shutter for me. These aren't exactly what I was going for when I set out to take these photos, but I absolutely love them.
